Dr. George Crozier, Executive
Director of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL), has accepted the
chairmanship of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Environmental Advisory
Board. This voluntary position, which is in addition to his
responsibilities as head of the DISL, will begin January 2007, and will
continue for a two-year term.
According to its website, “The Chief of Engineers Environmental Advisory
Board (EAB) was created over 30 years ago as a means for the Chief of
Engineers to gain outside, expert and independent advice on
environmental issues facing the Corps of Engineers.”
Dr. Crozier has been Director of the DISL since 1979, and has won
numerous awards for his work on coastal management and science
education, including the 1999 Walter B. Jones Coastal Steward Award
presented by NOAA, and the Wright A. Garner Award from the Alabama
Academy of Science.
