The Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL) recently received two generous grants in support of its expansive educational and research programs.

ExxonMobil gave the DISL $29,000 for its educational programs, including BayMobile, a traveling marine science laboratory that visits school systems and other public venues that are far from the coast.

Alabama Power Foundation awarded the DISL $100,000 for its extensive research programs. Research at the DISL covers a wide range of disciplines, from biogeochemistry to paleoecology. A staff of internationally-renowned scientists conduct their work from as close as Mobile Bay to as far away as Antarctica.

The DISL is unique in its breadth of programs that address both educational and research needs. “We are grateful to both ExxonMobil and Alabama Power Foundation for their generous contributions to the Sea Lab,” comments Dr. George Crozier, Executive Director, DISL. “Their continued support of our mission to be wise stewards of our marine resources is indicative of the caring and committed community for which we strive.”
