Ph.D student John Higgins III recently was awarded Best Oral presentation at the 2004 Gulf Coast Graduate Student Symposium in Mississippi. The talk was titled, "Fertilization potential of the moon jellyfish Aurelia aurita."

Master’s student Kelly Rakow was awarded Best Poster at the Gulf Coast Graduate Student Symposium for “Mechanics of oriented swimming by the jellyfish Aurelia aurita in shear flow.

She was also awarded Best Oral Presentation at the Southeastern Ecololgy and Evolution Conference at Georgia Tech in Atlanta for her talk “Mechanics of oriented swimming by jellyfish in shear flow.”
