Executive Director Named to US Army Corps of Engineers Dec 16, 2004 |

Crozier, Executive Director of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL), has been appointed to the US Army Corps of Engineers Environmental Advisory Board (EAB). The EAB provides the Corps of Engineers with expert and independent advice on environmental policy issues, and serves to enhance understanding and communication between the Corps, the general public and the conservation community. The EAB is composed of 5-10 members selected on the basis of their “expert knowledge and experience in environmental matters,” according to the Corps’s website. Dr. Crozier and the other newly appointed board members will serve a two-year term. Dr. Crozier has been the Executive Director of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab for over a quarter century, and is the current director of the DISL’s Coastal Policy Center. He is widely recognized as one of Alabama’s and the nation’s leading experts on coastal management, earning him the Walter B. Jones Coastal Steward of the Year Award in 1999, the Alabama Academy of Science’s Wright A. Gardner Award in 2000, and the Alabama Department of Conservation & Natural Resources, Coastal Section & NOAA’s Coastal Stewardship Award in 2004.
