Citing its "passion for teaching diverse groups in a unique, hands-on way," Coastal Living Magazine has presented the Dauphin Island Sea Lab its 2004 Coastal Education Award.

Coastal Living Magazine officials praise the Dauphin Island Sea Lab and its staff for their tireless efforts to educate a population ranging from kindergarten children to Ph.D. students to Elderhostel participants to the general public in its aquarium, the Estuarium.

"The methods and message of the Lab and its dedicated staff are unparalleled evidence of tireless efforts to safeguard our priceless coastlines," say Coastal Living officials.  "Congratulations [to the Sea Lab] on the tremendous collaborative effort that produces this one-of-a-kind educational experience."
