Collecting marine specimens, learning about water quality, feeding marine animals - is this what being an aquarist is all about? Six seventh-grade students from Alba Middle School are finding out just what it takes to take care of the animals in the Sea Lab's Estuarium as the students participate in the Mobile Area Education Foundation's Vital Link Program. This shadow/mentor program gives students a first-hand learning opportunity with a number of area businesses, including the Dauphin Island Sea Lab.

These budding aquarists will be at the Sea Lab from May 28-31, 8am to noon. They will be shadowing Senior Aquarist Brian Jones, and Aquarists Sharyl Crossley and Kyle Weis as they show the students what goes into maintaining the health and welfare of the Estuariumıs terrestrial and aquatic inhabitants.

The Dauphin Island Sea Lab is proud to participate in this vibrant learning program with the Mobile Area Education Foundation.
