Marine Fisheries Scientist
Assistant/Associate Professor of Marine Sciences. The Department of Marine Sciences at the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH ALABAMA (USA) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty position in the area of MARINE FISHERIES. Applicants with research interests in fisheries oceanography, fish population dynamics, stock assessment, ecosystem based management, and modeling are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out research focused on local and regional fish populations in the northern Gulf of Mexico and they should be willing to collaborate with an interdisciplinary group of existing faculty members in the Department (http://www.southalabama.edu/marinesciences/) and at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab (http://www.disl.org/). USA is a member of the Alabama Marine Environmental Sciences Consortium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, site of the Shelby Center for Ecosystem Based Fisheries Management. The position will be based at the DAUPHIN ISLAND SEA LAB.
The new faculty member will be expected to maintain an active, extramurally-funded research program, complement existing faculty expertise, advise M.S. and Ph.D students, and teach courses of programmatic need in areas relevant to his/her expertise. Applicants must hold an earned Ph.D. and be fluent in written and spoken English.
