NOAA Oil Spill Workshop for K-12 Educators

WHO: Formal and informal educators who teach primarily middle to high
school grades or those professionals who work with the
K-12 community
WHAT: A three-hour training session on topics related to the
Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill
WHEN: Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 8:30-12:00
WHERE: 10 locations across four states (including the Dauphin Island Sea Lab,
University of West Alabama and Jacksonville State University)
During the three-hour session, educators will hear from experts in four states, via video conferencing technology, on Deepwater Horizon oil spill topics: Oil 101, Dispersants, Impacts to Birds, and Impacts to Fisheries. Related hands-on activities will be conducted after speaker presentations. A Certificate of Participation and a $100 stipend will be available to the first 20 in-service educators (per site) who complete pre- and post-tests and an online evaluation.
