The Deepwater Horizon event stimulated a great deal of scientific research in the Gulf of Mexico region. On Saturday December 3, join the Dauphin Island Sea Lab for a conversation with some of the scientists doing this research. Three locations across Alabama will host the event and will be networked via video-conferencing technology. Audiences will hear from and be able to ask questions of scientists at each location.
Scheduled speakers and talks are:
- Dr. Marcus Drymon, Dauphin Island Sea Lab, Implications of the Deepwater Horizon explosion on Alabama's fisheries.
- Dr. Asim Bej, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Little things rule the world: microbial responses to oil.
- Dr. Ken Halanych, Auburn University, Oil spill impacts on sediment dwelling animals in the Gulf of Mexico.
- Dr. Thane Wibbels, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Oil spill impacts on terrapins and turtles in coastal waters.
